History & Description – Pura Ulun Danu Batur
Pura Ulun Danu Batur is one of the most important Hindu temples in Bali, located in the highlands of Kintamani, Bangli. The temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of lakes and water, who is believed to provide water and fertility for the island’s agriculture. Historically, the temple was originally located near the foot of Mount Batur, but after the devastating eruption of Mount Batur in 1917, the temple complex was relocated to its present location in the village of Kalanganyar, Kintamani.
Today, Pura Ulun Danu Batur is surrounded by the cool mountain atmosphere and beautiful views of Mount Batur and Lake Batur. The temple features traditional Balinese architecture, including distinctive meru towers, intricately decorated shrines, and peaceful courtyards.
