The coastline is lined with limestone cliffs featuring impressive statues of the five Pandawa brothers from the Indian epic Mahabharata, adding a strong cultural touch to the natural beauty.

History of Pandawa Beach
Pandawa Beach was formerly known as a “secret beach” because it was hidden behind high limestone cliffs and only accessible by local villagers. For many years, the area was used by the people of Kutuh Village mainly for seaweed farming, which became an important source of income for the local community.
The beach began to gain wider recognition in the early 2010s after the access road was developed, cutting through the cliffs and revealing the coastline to visitors. The name “Pandawa” was chosen to reflect Balinese cultural values, inspired by the five heroic brothers from the Mahabharata: Yudhisthira, Bima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva.
As tourism grew, the local community and authorities worked together to develop Pandawa Beach while preserving its natural beauty and cultural identity. Today, Pandawa Beach stands as a successful example of community-based tourism and is one of Bali’s iconic coastal attractions.
