Description
Seganing Waterfall, also known as Sebuluh Waterfall, is a hidden natural attraction on the southern coast of Nusa Penida, Bali. Unlike a typical large waterfall, Seganing features a small freshwater stream flowing down the steep limestone cliffs toward the sea. Visitors are rewarded with a natural pool, dramatic cliff scenery, and breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. (Nusa Penida)
The journey to the waterfall is part of the adventure. The trail descends along a narrow and steep cliff path, taking around 20–30 minutes. Because of the challenging terrain, the destination is particularly suited to adventurous visitors.
History
Seganing Waterfall is located near Sebuluh, which is why local communities also refer to it as Sebuluh Waterfall. Historical linguistic research records that local residents called the waterfall Yeh Gentuh, referring to water falling strongly along the cliff. The name “Seganing Waterfall” later became more widely used in tourism.
The site has remained closely connected to the natural landscape and local traditions of Nusa Penida. A source documenting the area's cultural history also mentions a nearby sacred spring and Pura Suganing, which is associated with local spiritual traditions and the worship of Ida Betara Dukuh.
Today, Seganing is known as one of Nusa Penida's more challenging hidden gems, attracting visitors who want to experience its rugged cliffs, natural freshwater pool, and spectacular coastal scenery.
