Bali’s wet season (roughly November to March) doesn’t stop the boats, but sea conditions can shift quickly. A little planning keeps your island-hopping stress-free.
Book morning crossings Seas are usually calmest in the morning before the afternoon wind picks up. Where possible, choose an early departure and keep your return flexible.
Build in a buffer If you have a flight to catch, don’t plan a same-day return from Nusa Penida or the Gilis. Occasional weather delays are normal — leave a night’s margin.
What operators do for safety Reputable operators will delay or reschedule a crossing rather than sail in unsafe conditions. If your trip is affected, we’ll always offer a free reschedule or a full refund.
Pack smart - A dry bag for phones and cameras. - Motion-sickness tablets taken 30 minutes before boarding. - A light rain layer for the walk to and from the jetty.
Check the forecast, keep your plans a little loose, and the crossings remain one of the best parts of a Bali trip.
